We would like to point out what you need to do to obtain a visa. This is intended to assist your travel preparations, prevent any problems in connection with the issue of your visa and make your journey here as pleasant and uncomplicated as possible.
So that the Austrian embassy in your country can issue a visa, you require an official invitation issued by the event organiser. This invitation can only be provided on written application and must contain the following information:
1. Full name of the participant(s), function(s), licence number(s), date(s) of birth, passport number(s) 2. Proof of hotel booking (name, address of hotel) 3. Proof of payment of the room(s) prior to commencement of journey 4. Address of the association, for the purpose of sending the official invitation by mail

With the official invitation, the hotel booking, the proof of sufficient financial means for your stay in Austria and presentation of your return ticket, you can apply to the embassy for a visa. Please note that visa applications must be received by the Austrian embassy in your country at least three weeks prior to commencement of the journey!

In Salzburg cycling is very popular. The bicycle is the most favoured means of transportation in the population, the network of cycle paths is one of the most densely structured throughout Austria. Additionally professional cycling is quite significant too. Thus I am especially pleased that we succeeded in our bid to host the 2006 Road World Championships in Salzburg. The World Championships as one of the biggest sport events, taking place on venues all over world and each year, is an important multiplicator for race cycling and an unforgettable event for the fans of cycling – hence the preparations run at full speed. Already now I am looking forward to the competitions and the finishes in the heart of our city!
