Salzburg has an excellent accessibility. Arriving from the South you reach Salzburg via the A 10 Tauern Autobahn. From the West you come to the city via the A8 or the A1, and if you come from the East you come to Salzburg via the A1. To make your journey to the World Championships as convenient as possible, different Park&Ride areas are installed. Use of the Park&Ride areas and use of public transport (zones Puch, Elsbethen, core zone Salzburg, Wals, Siezenheim, Elixhausen, Hallwang und Eugendorf) are free of charge for World Championships ticket holders.
The following Park&Ride areas are at your disposal:
From the South - Park&Ride area Urstein (23rd and 24th September only):
Exit the Motorway A10 Tauern Autobahn at Exit Puch/Urstein (Exit Nr. 11). In proximity to the Park&Ride area (4,000 parking lots) you find the train station Urstein. With the train(Line S2) you reach the city centre or the spectators areas in Hallwang.
From the West – Park&Ride area EM-Stadion
To reach the Park&Ride area EM-Stadion (2,000 parking lots) take exit Klessheim/Stadion (Exit 293). Shuttle busses bring you to the spectators area in Hallwang or you can reach the city centre with O-Bus line Nr. 1.
From the East – Park&Ride areas Hallwang and Elixhausen
Exit the Motorway A1 at Exit Wallersee (Exit 281). Next to the race track you find the car park Hallwang (4,000 parking lots) and Elixhausen (1,600 parking lots).
Park&Ride area Messezentrum
Exit the Motorway A1 at Exit Messezentrum (Exit 291). This car park is especially meant for VIP- and Extra-Guest-Ticket holders. Shuttle busses and the O-Bus (Line 1) bring you to the city centre.
Tip! We recommend to use public transport and shuttle busses. With a World Championships ticket or an accreditation shuttle busses and public transport (zones Puch, Elsbethen, inner city zone Salzburg, Wals, Siezenheim, Elixhausen, Hallwang and Eugendorf) can be used free of charge.
2.4 Parking area for busses
The central parking area for busses is in Salzburg Süd, motorway A10 Tauernautobahn exit Salzburg Süd (Exit Nr. 8). Shuttle busses and the local train (S-Bahn) bring you to the city centre. The shuttle train also brings you to the spectator areas in Hallwang.
Salzburg Airport is located west of Salzburg just 4 km from the city centre. It is directly linked to the motorway A1 Westautobahn (Exit Nr. 296 “Flughafen”). Already at the Welcome Desk at the airport you can acquire information about the World Championships. Austrian, Austrian Arrows and Lauda Air are the official carrier of the World Championships in Salzburg and offer the best flight connections from and to Salzburg. For information concerning flights, please contact your nearest Austrian Airlines office.

Taxi: There are taxi stands in front of the Terminal.
Public Bus Service:
Public busses (Line Nr.2) go at regular intervals between Salzburg Airport and Salzburg main railway station. At daytimes intervals are 10 minutes, at night time and on Sundays every 20-30 minutes. For details please visit: www.stadtbus.at. Journey time to the city centre is approx. 20 min.
The railway station in Salzburg is just 700 m away from the start-/finishing area. The ÖBB (Austrian Railways) offers, the “ÖBB-Rad-WM-Ticket”, a special ticket for the World Championships. The Ticket includes the following services:
• Return train journey (2nd class) with ÖBB from all Austrian train stations to Salzburg • Seat reservation in long distance trains • Free use of public transport in Salzburg • Free use of shuttle busses to the spectators areas • Hot Spot Ticket (Entrance to spectators areas)

The UCI Road World Championships live! Follow the Races via Internet. Sport1.at is the official Live-Ticker partner of the 2006 UCI Road World Championships in Salzburg/Austria.
Two days before the opening of the 2006 UCI Road World Championships in Salzburg a so-called "Jedermann-Charity-Cycling Tour" will take place on the original track of the Road Races. This charity event, which is of benefit for the biggest austrian charity organisation "Licht ins Dunkel", will take place on 17th of September. Actor Peter Simonischek is going to be the godfather this uniqe opening event.
